My First Toy Buy - Advice

I've been seeing a lot of posts online asking about what people would recommend for a first toy, what your favorite toy is, what is the best toy for a couple, etc.
So many questions and when asked together, I liked to focus in on the first part - the toys recommended for a first time sex toy buyer.

What Gets You Off?
One of the biggest questions when it comes to buying a toy is being honest with yourself about what really gets you off? What makes you orgasm?
Do you prefer clitoral stimulation? Does it take a light touch or do you need it rough? Does it take a long time or are you quick to come?
Do you need penetration? Do you prefer girth or length or do you need both? Does too much texture make you uncomfortable or do you like ridges?
Are you in tune with your body?
Do you get uncomfortable when considering keeping something overtly sexual in the house or is kinky, raunchy, yumminess ok with you?

If you need penetration but the idea of keeping something that looks like a disembodied dick laying around the bedroom makes you squirm you might want to look at something a little more inconspicuous.
Same with if you need clitoral stimulation but it only takes a light brush to get you going, a really strong vibrator might not be the most comfortable.

I know it's a lot to think about, however, the answers to these questions will help you dial into what toy is most likely to make your body sing.

Quality
Once you figure out what gets you off, safety and quality are the next things to consider.
There are certain materials that are safer than others. The safest materials include silicone, stainless steel, polymer coated wood, pthalate-free plastic, etc. The grading of safety for sex toys is based on a few properties of the material. These properties including chemicals in the material, how porous it is, and sterility or ability to clean it thoroughly and easily.

Chemicals such as pthalates in materials are good to avoid as they are potential carcinogens, which can cause cancer. When it comes to chemicals like this, it is better safe than sorry.
How porous the material is effects whether or not it can be thoroughly cleaned and if the material will hold onto bacteria. Porous materials include rubber, fabric like leather and nylon, and similar. Non-porous materials include glass, stainless steel, and
Sterilizing toys is important, especially if the toy is going to be shared between people or if it will be used both vaginally and anally. Some toys, like jelly, cannot be sterilized without being destroyed so if it is going to shared a condom must be used.

Quality isn't just about the toys but also about the store they are purchased from.
Some stores are known for their quality not only in product but also in pricing, shipping and customer care.
Online stores that are easy to navigate, offer information about the toys and brands that they sell, have customer reviews available, and quickly answer customer questions by e-mail or chat are good indicators of a great store. Also, if you are living with others or simply don't want the mail man knowing what you've ordered, avoiding stores that do not offer discrete shipping is a must.
The same goes for offline stores in their customer care and appearance. If the store feels sleazy  the workers are obviously uncared or if they simply seem to have no knowledge at all of the products, it will create an uncomfortable shopping environment that doesn't appeal to the customer's needs.

Technology
Buying your first toy in the age of technology can be a little overwhelming, especially if you're not technologically inclined. My best advice is when perusing the world of toys with buttons, cords or cordless, accessories and more is the KISS method, Keep It Simple Stupid.
When choosing a first toy, it might be best to go with a simple bullet rather than a Hitachi wand all of its attachables.  Too much going on with a toy can make for a frustrating time when all you want to do is relax and get off.

Budget
After figuring out what sort of toy you are after and have found options made with body-safe materials, money comes into play. Toys can range from $5 to $200 depending on brand, material, technology, and more.
When starting out, I would recommend keeping your budget low until you have pinpointed what you like then splurging for a larger buy when you've become a more seasoned sex toy buyer.

My Recommendations
Disclaimer for Recommendations:
The following toys are almost exclusively chosen for women. This is because I am a woman and have very little knowledge of men's toys and what would be recommended at the beginning stages of buying toys.
Also, if a toy you are looking at is not on this list, that does not mean that it is not a good buy for you. All choices for this recommendation are colored greatly by my own opinion.
The following toys are from Eden Fantasys, a store that offers discreet shipping, great customer service, and in-depth reviews.

Dildos
The Sweet Candy Cane is a smooth, glass dildo with a fun shape that will not look overtly sexual on your night stand. This glass dildo falls into the lower price bracket at $25.
Riley is a silicone dildo that is slender for those who aren't ready for much girth but a curved, bulbous head that is perfect for G-spot stimulation. This one has a medium price range of $45.
Classic Aluminum, while more expensive than the other insertables mentioned here, is on the cheaper end of the price range when it comes to metal toys at $90. The smooth body with graduating curves is a great way to figure out how you feel about texture in dildo shape.

Vibrators
When it comes to a basic bullet vibrator, my favorite is the Tantus Original Bullet Vibe. It is a strong vibrator with very little noise and small enough to store anywhere secretly. It is also easy on the budget at $25
The Doc Johnson Janine vibrator is a larger vibe that can be used easily as an insertable as well as for clitoral stimulation. My girlfriend enjoys this vibrator a great deal and is her go-to for multiple orgasms. This vibe is also very low on the price scale at $11
The Nestlin Bunny is a great choice for a rabbit vibe in that it is can easily conform to your insertion needs as well as still holds true to the traditional rabbit look and strength. It is a little higher on the price range at $28.

Anal Toys
The Crystal premium small plug is a glass butt plug is tiny and light weight which is perfect for beginners. The cost of this starting point is also small at $17.
The Silicone X-10 anal beads are made with body-safe silicone and graduate from tiny beads to large 3 inch balls. The handle is also perfect for removal. The price range is also great at $12.

Loving Good Clean Love

Good Clean Love Personal Lubricant in “Almost Naked” states on the bottle “Recommended by Medical Professionals” and I would also like to add highly recommended by this Sexpert.

This lube is 95% organic, certified by the NOP, Oregon Tilth, with an ingredient list that includes aloe juice, xanthum gum, citric acid, and natural flavor. When I first read it, I was reminded of the ingredients list on a pack of candy. A larger spot on the label proudly pronounces the makers of Good Clean Love as a member of the Organic TradeAssociation. The product is also 100% vegan, cruelty free and safe to use with latex and silicone toys. If that doesn’t steal your heart, the part that stole mine was the label stating “No Petrochemicals, No Parabens, No Glycerin.”

As a person with a list of allergies a mile long, and getting longer every year, I was thrilled to find Good Clean Love. I’ve tried lubricants in the past, when I first started having sex, and had a really bad scare when everything broke out on me after using some basic KY jelly. I went to the doctor who assured me I didn’t have a STI and asked if I had tried anything new. I told her and she proclaimed my allergy. I later learned I have this reaction with anything petroleum based and have shunned lube since. Nearly four years later, I gave Good Clean Love a try and am so happy I did.

The lube is thick and only a little sticky. The bottle says, “Naturally Moist, Sensuously Smooth, Long Lasting,” and I agree. The lube doesn’t leave a greasy or oil feel and washes off easily with water.

It doesn’t have much of a taste, just a weird texture to the mouth. I’ve not drank aloe juice alone before but I’m sure it tastes about the same. There are two other flavors of Good Clean Love lubricant - Lavender Rose and Cinnamon Vanilla.

I've used Good Clean Love during sex and with toys and found the lube to be great in both situations. I don’t normally need lube during intercourse but found the addition to make the experience luxurious and wonderfully wet. My husband also thought it was a good idea to use it and loved the fact that using lube allowed him to go for longer without making me uncomfortable.

With toys, I used the lube on Boxie the Fox and was surprised that I could take the knot quickly and easily, rather than minutes of thrusting it in different directions until it pressed its way through. A friend of mine I used Boxie and the lube on was blindfolded and didn’t believe she’d actually taken the knot without some insistence on my part after. The lube certainly did its job there.

I had originally bought Good Clean Love lube on a whim at the local super market after receiving the Kobe Tai anal adventure kit from EdenFantasys. The lube in it wasn’t something I trusted using but I knew if I was going to take a plug or beads anally I would need lube. I’d read about Good Clean Love in other reviews and decided to give it a try.

Using it anally was a strange experience for an anal virgin. Lube in an otherwise unused area is a feeling altogether alien but I soon learned to enjoy it as my husband applied it liberally to me and to the plug he used. The lube did a great job and I don’t plan on playing out back without it.

In all, I give the lube 5 out of 5 stars! I highly recommend this product, even if you don't have allergy issues.

Formal Review: Onye Gallerie Petite Vibromasseur

This is the review I submitted to GoodVibes and BigTeazeToys

My first impression of the Onye Gallerie Petite was of just how pretty it was. I have seen many toys and vibrators online and in local shops but this is one of the prettiest ones. I love the little purple and yellow flowers with the ink-scroll design. I admit, I have a fondness for the color purple. This toy comes in three designs; purple flowers, a red dragon on a black background, and orange and black butterflies.

I received the vibe in the mail after winning it in a Valentines Day Contest on SexToyGeek.net. The toy came with a few other goodies such as a Tantus sticker that says 'more orgasms, less work' and some LELO lube. The Onye Petite's packaging is discreet even though it shows the vibe fully. I assume that if a child were to see it they would not be able to tell that it was an "adult toy" but rather some sort of pretty pocket-size pen or lighter. There's nothing that screams 'sex' on the package and even the Big Teaze Toys logo is small and I only found it when I began reading closer to figure out the size battery the toy took.

The Onye Petite comes with a black carrying case that is very discreet. It fits perfectly among the paraphernalia of my purse or on my nightstand and is equally tiny. Both the toy and its case are not much bigger than a basic lighter and certainly smaller than a cellphone or eyeglasses case.

While the vibrator is a basic push-button bullet it packs a punch not only in looks but also in sensation. I would give this vibe a 3 out of 5 for noise and a 4 out of 5 for strength of vibration. Even though the Onye Petite just takes a single AAA battery its quite strong. I sat the toy, turned on, on a hard-top table and it rattled around like a jumping bean and made the sound of a small machine gun, much to the amusement of my husband.

In Use Vaginally:
I recommend only using this vibrator topically; on nipples, clitoris or perineum. Using it internally in the vagina only caused me discomfort.
Using the vibe solo I was pleased but I did have some issues with how strong the vibration was in my hand as my fingers quickly became numb. My husband was kind enough to take over for me so when my focus was entirely on the vibration on my clit and labia I was very much pleased. I will say I had one of the best clitoral orgasms I've ever had.

Using the vibe with my knotted anthro dildo was fantastic. I took the knot faster than I ever had before due to being easily worked up with the vibe. I could feel the vibration lightly through the silicone and it added another pleasant sensation to the already amazing feel.

Using the vibe during sex was amazing. It added a whole new dimension to sex with my husband. I had the longest orgasm I have ever had when using the Onye Petite during intercourse, pressing it against my clitoris and holding it there between our bodies. My husband was also pleased because with all the convulsing I was doing with this he was able to sit still and enjoy watching me. He did feel the vibrations as well but admits they didn't do much for him.

In Use Anally:
I don't like using my toys anally. I did feel the vibrations around my rectal rim when playing with the Onye Petite solo. It wasn't unpleasant but I didn't really care if I felt it there or not. If you like anal play and all that comes with that, you might want to give it a try, but I wasn't too big on the idea myself.

Clean Up:
The Onye Petite is waterproof so cleaning it just involves washing it with warm water and a gentle dish soap. I wouldn't recommend scrubbing as that might effect the art on the vibe. Just wash, rinse and store in its little carrying case until next use, which I'm sure won't be too distant in the future.

Switching

So I'm Switching...
I have been a sub since I learned what BDSM is but for the last few months I've been playing around with the concept of being a Switch and letting my Dominant personality come forward.

I wasn't sure of this but I finally asked SirPhryxus to teach me how to be a Domme. He was a little surprised but not very. He agreed and I finally had my first lesson.

Daddy taught me how to use a flogger and a crop. Turns out I'm a natural at the flogger, must have learned more than I thought watching him use them on others.
At one point, I was using it lightly on Daddy to make sure I was doing my rhythm right and he looked up and back at me a little and without hesitating I said very sternly "Get Your Head Down" and whacked him low on the backside. I then stopped, surprised at myself and he laughed at me and said, "I knew you had it in you. Looks like you're getting the hang of being a Bitchy Domme."

That sort of set it in for me. I'm switching to Switch.

I already have an idea of what my Domme persona will be like - think of a bratty spoiled princess with a flogger in hand. Yea, that's me ^_^

Speaking of flogger, my sweet lil brother, Synn, just paid for me to have a custom flogger made by Sensuous Bliss. Its pink and light blue and purple with purple sparkly fur on it like their Mongoose floggers. They make a lot of cute but sinister items like their Bondage Buddy. They're also local and I love giving my business to my local kinksters.

Shops: Babeland

Babeland has one of the greatest varieties to be seen at online sex toy shops.

They have a great variety of eco-friendly toys including vibrators by Leaf and Jopen. They also have a decent collection of Bondage toys. I especially like their variety of sensation play products like their Incognito Blade, Wartenberg Pinwheel and Ostrich tickler.

One of Babeland's awesome programs is their Come for a Cause collection. A collection of 8 items including Sliquid lube and a Power to the Pink kit, which allows customers to buy great products AND give to a great cause - current causes include Breast Cancer Awareness and Immigration Equality. Reviewing for EdenFantasys

Yes, I am now also reviewing for EdenFantasys ^_^
I love EdenFantasys. They have a great selection of toys and many ways for their customers to get great bargains and participate in programs to get free stuff ^_^

I've already done one review for them on a pair of glass Ben Wa balls, which can also be seen here on my blog. The review I did for Eden Fantasys is a little more extensive than the one on here though, so I definitely recommend you read that one.

I will now be reviewing free toys from them as well as I receive them. Please be assured I will continue to be honest and fair in my reviews as I have been. I hope that not only will I enjoy testing them to review them but that you will enjoy reading my reviews and they will help you in your toy-buying experience.

xoxo

Sissification

While not a personal interest of mine, I do have some friends who are very interested in Sissification and wanted to do a blog post about it for them as well as for you, dear reader, should you be curious about this concept or maybe have never heard of it before.

A great article on the topic is by Chaos Fox, Feminization and Sissification on The Sexpert's Lounge. Chaos Fox explains the terms and the basic concepts of this fetish pretty thoroughly and without much confusion (I like that). I also like that the article explains that while the male participating in sissification is experimenting with gender roles, he is not necessarily switching or effecting his sexual orientation (translation: sissies aren't necessarily gay, they can be straight or bi as well).

From the Age Play point of view, The Big Little Podcast interviewed some Littles who participate in Sissification in Episode 51.
I personally would love to know if there are any Sissy Daddies or Uncles out there who become feminized for their Little's enjoyment.

When shopping for sissification clothes, which I love to do because their clothes are so over-the-top sometimes and I love that, I find that SissyKiss Boutique has a great selection!

Shops: The Intimacy Book

The Intimacy Book is a online shop with a variety of sex toys varying from candles and condoms to black light make up and instructional books and DVDs.

While you won't find anything kinkier than a rubber mini skirt or a bell that you can ring specifically for a blow job on this site, you can find novelty gifts for a bachelor/ette party or a cute outfit to wear to a play party. They are quite similar to sex shops in my local area or, more available across the states, a shop like Spencers.

I do love that they seem to carry some natural products as well as the commercial ones. It's always good to seem some natural, organic or eco-friendly product choices.

As far as products they carry that I personally like, my top picks would be:

  • The Seductive Art of Japanese Bondage by Midori
  • The Lizette Shoe Wraps
  • KALAN Black Light Body Make-up powder in pink
  • Sinclair Institute Kegel Exerciser
  • The Risque and X-Rated Valentines Day candy

The Intimacy Book has great programs for its online shoppers such as the Affiliate program and coupons for bloggers who write about their shop, like I am doing now.
They also participate in give-a-ways, contests and raffles. Currently, you could win a $25 gift card for The Intimacy Book HERE.

Floggers

So we got asked at the munch who made our floggers and couldn't remember. We came home found the card:

On top is my flogger: its black and purple and thumpier than the bottom one, which I like thumpy so YAY By my flogger I mean Sir Phryxus got it for me but he still uses it on me...I've never hit anyone with a flogger so...yea...

On bottom is Sir's flogger and the first one we bought. Its blue and black and a bit more stingy.

Floggers are custom made by Toolworks Chicago, Inc. or, more specifically, Mark and Jeanine.
Our next buy from them will probably be an aluminum handle flogger...you can even get one that is rounded on the pommel of the handle...for creative use...heh

Kinky Jobs

With unemployment high and kinksters all over the US looking for jobs, I thought I would make a list of fetish jobs that kinksters might be interested in. Not included in this list is: stripping, porn industry, or prostitution but if this is legal in your area and of interest to you, have at it. ^_^

Pro-Dom:
Doms and Dommes might be interested in going pro. While there is a term for Dommes who go pro, Dominatrix, there doesn't seem to be a similar term for men who do so they are normally termed Pro-Dom or Professional Dominant. Doms (I will be using the masculine version from here on just to make things simpler, sorry if you are offended) can do this 2 ways: solo or as part of a dungeon.

Fox News Sexpert (Yea, I know, of all the places to find a sexpert right?) covered the reasons women would become a Dominatrix (and I think these reasons are similar for men as well) "“It offers the convenience of early or nightshift work; It enables cute women with bodies bigger than the Barbie-esque figure desired of strippers to work in the sex industry; It provides a woman with the opportunity to flog some of the bankers responsible for the current financial mess."

Of course, the pay check of an average of $200 an hour helps as well.
Many Doms supplement their income with public demonstrations, conference appearances, even by writing for magazinese, websites and or authoring their own books.

Pro-Doms in the field:
Alpha Malevolent
Master Kain
and soon Sir Phryxus? -giggles-

Pro Dommes in the field:
Elle ( a pro switch to be precise )
Mistress Milliscent

(I chose the 4 Doms here because they were the first ones I came across when searching that had websites that were still up and running...I know, great journalism huh? lol)

Pro-Sub:
Alternatively, submissives can also go pro and, in most cases, are paid better. This job is more dangerous than its Dom counterpart due to use of restraints by the customer or, in some cases, use of extreme bondage.
This field, as far as what I've seen, is mostly employed with women but I'm sure there is a calling for male subs.

Pro-subs in the field:
Check out the International Directory of Professional Submissives

Interwebs:
There are plenty of ways to be kinky online and make money if you have the abilities.

Host your own kinkster website. You can make money through advertisement, becoming an affiliate of adult stores, or reviewing products.

You can also blog...-looks around her own blog- and I know a lot of people make money on their blogs...and I could use the advice myself...hint hint.

Work for a kinkster website. Watch for job opening at your favorite site, social network, etc. I see them pop up all the time but sadly, I have no 1337 Sk1llz0rz...ehem.

And then there's always setting up a profile with some of the webcam and phone sex networks if you have the body and voice for that sort of thing.(I sound somewhat like a small child over the phone...so yea...not where I'm applying right now)

Toys:
Work at your local adult store. Not only do you get to work in a field you are knowledgeable in but you get a discount on all those kinky toys!

Work for a company that makes toys!
Bad-Dragon is always taking applications on their site even when they aren't hiring.

Make your own toys. If you have a hobby in wood, leather or metal work - put that hobby to work. Make leather harnesses and floggers, wooden racks and vintage dildos, chainmaile or Gorean collars.
Sites like Etsy allow all creators to sell their stuff without having to create your own online store...though that's not a bad idea either. Or, if you don't want to sell online, try setting up a table at your local munch, fetish club, goth club, etc.

Write:
If you're a writer, then write. Plenty of websites allow you to create your own e-book without the hassle of agents and begging at the doors of publishing companies. Write some of your own experiences...changing any names of course, or write out your fantasies.
If you don't want to make your own e-book, submit your writing to kinkster magazines, blogs, websites and more. Who knows, you might be the go-to boy or girl in the kinky scene of journalism or fiction!

All Things Kink

Stumbled across All Things Kink today.

They have 2 parts to their site it seems. The first is like a kinkster's ebay and the second is a BDSM dating site.

I set up an account with their dating site for me and Daddy as we are still seeking another woman to make our life complete.

Browsing through the toys n things on the shop site was fun and I saw a few things I'd love SantaDaddy to bring me this year ^_^

The 24kt Gold Pink Princess Glass Dildo  is absolutely adorable and supposedly Eco-friendly.

The Rose Flogger is beautiful!!! It comes in a few different colors too - torn between black with red roses or blue with dusty purple roses...decisions decisions heh

(sorry no pics, they save a php files and I dunno how to convert them)

Sissy Kiss

Omigosh, omigosh, omigosh!

I just found Sissy Kiss Boutique online and am in love with so many of their cutesy outfits!

I had a dress like this for Easter when I was about 8 or 9 and mommy curled my hair into ringlets - I looked like Shirley Temple ^_^
I'm already thinking of adding a few items to my list for SantaDaddy.
